Introducing the catalog: every part of an AI data center, and who makes it

This site catalogs the physical AI data center — from the GPU die to the grid interconnection — and the companies behind every piece of it. The current build holds 130 top-level part categories across 11 layers, around 1,200 companies (just under 700 of them with listed equity across 31 exchanges), and about 1,900 part-to-company placements, each tagged with how well it is sourced.

The organizing idea is parts-first. Most supply-chain coverage starts from a company and asks what it sells. We start from the component — a cold plate, an ABF substrate, a 765 kV transformer — and ask who makes it. The same graph read the other way tells you everything a company touches. One table underneath, two directions on top.

What a part page tells you

Take direct-to-chip cold plates: what the part is, where it sits between the lid and TIM and the rack manifold, why AI changed demand for it, and then the table — every company on the part, its role, its ticker and last nightly price, and a confidence tag:

  • disclosed — the company or a filing says so, with a source URL on the row
  • reported — trade press or a reference-design partner list
  • inferred — a placement from our taxonomy seed, not yet cited; a lead, not a fact

Tags never upgrade without a source, and unknown stays blank. There is a lot of blank, and that is deliberate.

A worked example

The slowest component in a gigawatt campus is not silicon — it is the large power transformer at the fence line, with lead times the taxonomy records at 2–4 years:

The same table exists for HBM, the most supply-constrained part in the stack, and for 130 other categories.

Where to start

  • The GB300 NVL72 teardown — one rack, walked from the cabinet inward, with the public plays grouped by exchange in the sidebar.
  • How it fits together — the power, heat, data and shell chains as linked paths.
  • Learn — six plain-language chapters if the industry is new to you.
  • The map — where the supply chain lives, toggleable by layer.
  • Facilities — real sites like Colossus and Stargate Abilene, with sourced facts and the suppliers reported inside each.

Prices are a nightly snapshot, never real-time; nothing here is investment advice. If we have your company on the wrong part — or missing from the right one — a correction with a public source is the most valuable contribution there is: see sources & method.
