Who makes facility water loop hardware for AI data centers

Facility water loop hardware (pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, tanks)

The pumps, valves, piping, plate heat exchangers, and thermal-storage tanks that move and buffer water between chillers, heat-rejection equipment, and the CRAH or CDU interfaces on the IT side.

This is the connective tissue of facility cooling — the primary, secondary, and (at scale) tertiary water loops that carry heat from the IT space, via CRAH coils or the CDU heat exchanger described in Layer 5, out to chillers (6.01) and ultimately to dry coolers or cooling towers (6.02). Pumps (6.05a) move the water, valves and actuators (6.05b) modulate flow and isolate zones, piping (6.05c) carries it, plate heat exchangers (6.05d) isolate one loop from another the way a CDU isolates a rack loop from the facility loop, and tanks and thermal storage (6.05e) buffer against a pump or chiller trip and can shave peak cooling demand. Liquid-cooled AI campuses typically add a distinct, often higher-temperature facility loop on top of any legacy chilled-water loop rather than replacing it, effectively duplicating this hardware category. Investors should watch loop redundancy design — N+1 pumps and valves versus fully parallel loops at gw-class scale — and how much incremental piping and heat-exchanger capacity liquid-cooling retrofits add to sites originally built for air cooling.

AI delta: Liquid-cooled AI racks add a second, often higher-temperature facility water loop to carry chip heat out to the CDU interface, increasing the pumps, piping, and heat-exchanger capacity a site needs beyond what an air-cooled building of the same size would require.
