Uninterruptible power supplies that bridge the gap between a utility outage and generator start, built as static (battery-based), modular, or rotary/diesel-rotary (DRUPS) designs, plus the power semiconductors inside them.

Beyond simple outage bridging, AI clusters draw power in sharp, correlated swings as large synchronized GPU jobs start, stop, or checkpoint, and utilities and grid operators are increasingly asking data centers to use UPS and related equipment (7.12) to smooth those swings rather than let them propagate onto the grid. For investors, watch UPS order backlogs, capacity additions among the small set of vendors building at data-center scale, and how much of the value is migrating toward the power semiconductor content inside each unit.
AI delta: GPU cluster power draw swings sharply and quickly with training and inference workload changes, and UPS systems are increasingly being asked to absorb those swings for grid stability rather than just bridge outages.
