Who makes prefab / modular data centers & power/cooling skids for AI data centers

Instead of building power distribution and cooling systems entirely on-site from the components in Layers 5 through 8, this layer packages them into pre-engineered, factory- tested modules — power skids, cooling skids, and in some cases entire containerized compute units — that arrive at the site largely complete and are craned into place, cutting down the on-site labor scope handled by Layers 9.04 and 9.05. AI campuses' appetite for repeatable, fast-to-deploy capacity favors this approach: a prefabricated module built on a standard design can be manufactured in parallel with site and shell construction rather than sequentially after it, and factory conditions allow tighter quality control on the high-density power and liquid-cooling systems AI racks require. Investors should watch whether a given developer's design standardizes around a particular vendor's modular product, since that creates a qualification and single-vendor dependency similar to other parts of this taxonomy, and whether module manufacturing capacity itself becomes a scheduling constraint as adoption grows.
