Who makes lv switchgear, switchboards, panelboards for AI data centers

Low-voltage electrical distribution equipment — switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards — that receives power from MV/LV transformers and distributes it onward to busway, PDUs, and building loads.

LV switchgear and switchboards sit downstream of MV/LV transformers (7.04) and upstream of busway (7.06) and floor PDUs (7.07), forming the low-voltage backbone that a building's electrical room is organized around. Panelboards handle smaller, more localized circuits — lighting, mechanical loads, and other building systems — branching off the main switchboards. In a data center this equipment also has to coordinate with UPS (7.10) and backup generation (7.13), since normal, UPS-backed, and generator-backed power paths often converge and diverge at the switchboard level through automatic and static transfer switches. Because IT load density keeps rising, switchboards feeding data halls are increasingly built to higher ampacity ratings and with tighter short-circuit and arc-flash engineering than a comparable commercial building would need, which narrows the pool of qualified manufacturers for the largest boards. For investors, the things to track are lead times on custom-engineered switchboards (as distinct from off-the-shelf panelboards, which remain widely available), how much of this equipment is being pulled toward integrated, pre-tested power skids rather than site-assembled boards, and capacity at the firms that build both switchgear and the E-houses around it.

AI delta: Larger, denser power blocks push individual LV switchboards toward higher ampacity ratings and tighter integration with UPS and generator controls than a conventional commercial building would need.
