Who makes certification and standards for AI data centers

This part is not a product. It is the standards bodies and certification programmes that define what the tests elsewhere in this layer are testing against — resilience tier definitions, equipment safety listings, environmental design standards for temperature and humidity, open hardware specifications, cabling standards, and green building ratings. They matter because they are how a claim becomes checkable. An operator saying its facility is highly resilient means little; a facility certified against a published tier definition has been assessed against criteria someone else wrote. The same is true of equipment: a safety listing is a third party attesting that a product meets a standard, which is what lets an inspector approve its installation and an insurer underwrite it. The environmental design standards are what let a hardware vendor and a facility operator agree on what temperature and humidity the equipment will actually see. AI hardware has moved faster than several of these frameworks, particularly around liquid cooling, where the standards work is still catching up with deployed practice and much of the de facto specification comes from open hardware groups and the accelerator vendors' own reference designs. What to look for is which standards a facility or product is actually certified against rather than designed toward, and the difference between a certification, a self-declaration, and a membership.
