Who makes equipment and rental for AI data centers

Construction runs on equipment that mostly is not owned by the contractor using it. Cranes, excavators, lifts, telehandlers, temporary power and the fleet of smaller machines are rented, from the same national rental businesses that appear elsewhere in this catalog supplying temporary generation. The rental model is what makes a construction wave possible and also what limits it. A contractor can staff up for a large project without buying a fleet, but the fleet is finite and regional, and when several large projects start in one area the local availability of tower cranes and large lifts becomes a scheduling constraint that no amount of money resolves quickly. Crane capacity in particular is a long-lead item on a data center, where heavy mechanical and electrical equipment has to be set on roofs and in yards. AI construction has concentrated exactly this kind of demand geographically, which is the mechanism by which one project delays another. What to look for is fleet availability in the specific region rather than a rental company's total fleet, whether the project has secured heavy lift capacity in advance, and the split between the manufacturers on this part and the rental operators — they are different businesses, and the rental operators' utilisation is a better read on construction activity than the manufacturers' shipments.
