Who makes enclosures for AI data centers

The enclosure is the cabinet: the frame, side panels, doors, and mounting rails that everything else bolts into. It is the least glamorous part in this layer and one of the more consequential, because its dimensions and load rating decide what can go in it, and because it is fixed to the floor before the equipment arrives. AI racks have changed the specification more than the product. Weight is the first constraint — a fully populated liquid-cooled cabinet is far heavier than the air-cooled racks the standard grew up around, which pushes on frame rating, castor and levelling design, and the floor beneath. Depth and width have grown to make room for manifolds, busbars and cable management that were not there before, and doors have had to accommodate hose routing and rear manifolds without becoming unserviceable. The supplier picture is split in a way worth noticing: the names on this part are the enclosure specialists and the electrical majors that sell cabinets as part of a wider white space offering, while the rack ODMs in Layer 4 often build their own frames for their own designs. What to look for is load rating, depth, and whether the enclosure is being bought separately at all — on a hyperscale build it is frequently part of an integrated rack rather than a line item.
