Who makes compressors for AI data centers

The compressor is the machine at the centre of a chiller. It raises refrigerant pressure so the cycle can move heat from the cool side to the warm side, and its type sets most of what the chiller can do: centrifugal machines for large steady loads, screw compressors in the middle, scroll at smaller capacities, and magnetic-bearing centrifugal designs that run oil-free and hold efficiency well at part load. Part-load behaviour is the specification that matters most for a data center, and it is not obvious why until you look at how these plants run. A hall's cooling load is relatively steady but the plant is sized for a design day that rarely arrives, so the compressors spend their lives well below nameplate. A machine that is efficient at full load and poor at forty percent will cost more over its life than its rating suggests. AI has pulled in two directions here. Direct-to-chip cooling raises the temperature at which heat is rejected, which lets more sites run on free cooling and reduces compressor hours; at the same time total site load has grown, so the absolute quantity of installed compression keeps rising. What to look for is refrigerant compatibility, since the phase- down of high-global-warming-potential refrigerants forces redesign, and whether the supplier sells compressors to chiller builders, complete chillers, or both.
