Who makes onsite reuse and wells for AI data centers

The most effective way to reduce a data center's draw on municipal water is not to use municipal water. This part covers the two approaches: treating and reusing water on site so the same volume cycles more times before discharge, and sourcing from wells or reclaimed supply rather than from the potable network. Reuse is a treatment problem. Cooling water concentrates minerals as it evaporates, and the concentration is what eventually forces a discharge; treating that stream to remove hardness and dissolved solids lets it go around again, at the cost of a treatment plant on site and the chemicals and energy to run it. Some campuses have gone further and taken municipal reclaimed water — treated effluent — as their supply, which removes the potable- water objection entirely but requires a purple-pipe connection the municipality has to have built. Wells are the other route, and they trade a public constraint for a regulatory one: groundwater rights, aquifer drawdown and neighbouring users are all live issues in the arid regions where several campuses sit. What to look for is whether a site's water reduction claim rests on reuse, on alternative sourcing, or on not using evaporative cooling at all — these are very different commitments — and whether the treatment plant is operated by the campus or by a service provider.
