Who makes sodium-ion for AI data centers

Sodium-ion is the newest chemistry in this group and the least proven at scale. The pitch is supply chain rather than performance: sodium is abundant and geographically unconstrained, and the cell design avoids the lithium and, in most formulations, the cobalt and nickel that make lithium cells expensive and politically complicated. The chemistry also behaves better at low temperature and tolerates being held at low state of charge. The cost is energy density, which is lower than lithium iron phosphate. For an electric vehicle that is close to disqualifying; for a UPS bridging to a generator start, or for a stationary storage installation where floor area is available, it is a trade that can make sense. That is why sodium-ion appears here and in the grid-scale storage part rather than in mobile applications. What this part actually represents today is an option being watched rather than a deployed standard, and the placements on it should be read that way — one very large cell maker with the manufacturing base to move quickly if it chooses, and one specialist. What to look for is production capacity that exists rather than announced, cycle life data from stationary duty rather than laboratory conditions, and whether any UPS or storage vendor has qualified sodium-ion cells into a shipping product, which is the step that turns a chemistry into a supply chain.
