Who makes day tanks and fuel systems for AI data centers

Bulk fuel storage is not what feeds a generator. Between the tank farm and the engine sits a day tank — a smaller vessel close to the machine holding a few hours of fuel — plus the pumps, valves, filtration, level controls and return lines that keep it full and keep what reaches the injectors clean. That system is what this part covers, and it is where extended-runtime backup actually succeeds or fails. The reason it fails is usually fuel quality rather than quantity. Diesel degrades in storage, absorbs water, and grows microbial contamination at the fuel-water interface; the resulting sludge blocks filters, and it blocks them under load, which is precisely when the generator is needed. Polishing systems that continuously circulate and filter stored fuel exist for this reason, and a site with large tanks and no polishing has a runtime figure on paper rather than in practice. AI campuses have made this larger and more prominent: more generators, larger fuel inventories, and permitting attention on storage volumes and spill containment. Sites running HVO from the next part have their own storage characteristics to account for. What to look for is whether the fuel system is exercised under load rather than at idle, whether polishing and sampling are in place, and how redundancy is arranged — a shared day tank or a single transfer pump can quietly undo the redundancy in the generators it serves.
