Who makes geothermal for AI data centers

Geothermal is the renewable that behaves like a data center wants power to behave: it runs continuously, independent of weather and time of day, so it matches a flat training load without storage or hourly-matching arithmetic. Conventional geothermal is limited to places with the right geology, which is why it has stayed a small share of generation despite that advantage. The activity in this part is about removing that limitation. Enhanced and closed-loop approaches aim to create a heat exchanger in hot rock where no natural reservoir exists — by fracturing rock to make permeability, or by circulating fluid through drilled loops that never contact the formation. The techniques borrow directly from oil and gas drilling, and the cost curve they are chasing is the one horizontal drilling produced in shale. Several of the companies here are explicitly staffed from that industry. AI operators have been early contracted customers, which is unusual for a technology at this stage and reflects how much a firm carbon-free source is worth to them. What to look for is the distinction between the one established operator on this part, which runs conventional plants today, and the development-stage companies pursuing the enhanced approaches; whether a project has drilled and demonstrated flow at temperature rather than modelled it; and induced seismicity, which has stopped enhanced geothermal projects before and is a permitting question everywhere.
